Background Information

Resource Institute for Community and Human Development Agency (RECADA) is a local NGO registered by the government of Kenya in 2003. The main purpose of RECADA is to facilitate and empower communities for holistic human development. RECADA collaborates with churches, other NGOs, institution of learning and individuals in promoting and supporting sociocultural, economic, and human development among communities and vulnerable groups, and institutions through a multi-sectoral and integrated approach for sustainable livelihood. The NGO is currently running several projects in different parts of Kenya both in rural and urban areas; including, primary schools, entrepreneurship programs, skills trainings, general agriculture and horticultural farming. The organization’s current head office is in Nairobi.

RECADA is currently having a project at Nyamasore village in Nyanza, which is aimed at empowering the economically challenged community members; including the old, youth and women. Through the Nyamasore Integrated Faming and Enterprise Development (NIFED), RECADA is providing training, basic farm equipment supports and micro-financing for horticultural faming, poultry and micro-business enterprise.  The purpose of the ongoing projects are to engage the community for sustainable farming practices and micro-business, by training in efficient farming techniques, emphasizing savings and provision of small loans to help with the activities.

The organization’s mission emphasizes the development and implementation of various programs and projects designed to facilitate socio-economic growth, research, education, and health initiatives targeting both rural and urban informal settlements in Kenya.

Recada’s activities are founded on core values such as accountability, transparency, integrity, equal opportunity, and nurturing, which are essential for building trust within communities and ensuring effective program delivery.

Objectives

  1. To establish and promote vocational training, early childhood and adult education through training centers and schools in rural and slum areas.
  2. To facilitate participation of the needy members of the community in gainful economic activities through promotion of income generating activities.
  3. To liars with individuals and agencies interested in welfare of the venerable communities, groups in matters aimed at better delivery of services, to cooperate with other organizations, institutions, locally regionally and internationally in furtherance of the objects of RECADA.
  4. To promote food security through training on sustainable agricultural methods and practices to unable the community to produce sufficient food for their consumption and for sale.
  5. To provide relief service to the communities living in difficult circumstances to elevate their suffering
  6. To open up and operate primary health care units, Aids awareness and care centers, set light clinics and general promotion of health and hygiene in various communities.
